If you read my last blog, you’ll know I got to go to Florida for a couple of days.
I lived in Northern Ireland for a year doing mission work. In that year, I became good friends with a fellow intern called Jayne. I spent Christmas Day with her and her family.
Well it just so happens that Jayne and her family own a condo in Orlando, Florida, where they spend a couple of weeks every year. So Jayne invited me to come down for a couple of days!
I booked super cheap flights through allegiant air & I was off!
After arriving we went out for dinner. My ONLY complaint about the whole trip was that it was NOT easy to find vegan friendly restaurants in the touristy area of Kissimmee/Orlando (I did not go into Orlando proper, I’m sure there’s options there. Also Disney was SUPER accomodating).
The next day, we went to Bok Tower Gardens. If you’re in the area, it is a MUST SEE.
I’ll let the pictures do the talking.
It was stunning. We had a little picnic by the tower and listened to the bells play songs. There’s also a cafe where you can get food and you can tour the home. The spanish moss is absolutely enchanting and it’s one of the highest points in Florida so you can’t beat the view. Again, if you’re in the area it is an absolute MUST see.
Then that night, my cousin Jim took Jayne and I to Disney! He works there. It was incredibly magical. It rained a TON but that honestly didn’t make it any less amazing.
I finally bought some minnie ears!
The next day we just lounged by the pool and went shopping! It was super relaxing.
Then I headed back to Columbus (and was excited for a good vegan meal). I was glad to be home, but it was so wonderful to take a mini-vacay and see a friend I hadn’t seen in 2 years and my cousin! Florida is so great and I loved being in the super warm weather.
Traveling is by far my favorite thing – so you can expect many more blogs like this in the future. Thanks for reading! Enjoy this sweet summertime.
