Let me start off with saying I have never had good skin. Okay, maybe until I was 10-11ish, but it quickly went downhill. Also I have tried for about 10 years now (!!!) to find products that would work. I so often felt completely defeated. I tried so many different regimes and some would give some relief but then the unevenness, acne, and redness would come back. Always with a vengeance. Being one of the few growing up with terrible skin was a lot of fun, let me tell you.
When I was in beauty school I finally started to see some improvement, but that’s because students got 1/2 off services and you can’t beat a $10 facial using some top dollar product. After school, back to square one. Kind of. I finally realized that it didn’t matter what my routine was, I could be incredibly strict but if what I was using on my skin was mediocre quality I was going to have mediocre skin. I have always had a huge internal battle with spending money (but on the flip side also wonder where it goes!). I do stand by this though and always will, what you use on your skin matters. It is worth spending the extra to get good product (and makeup). Also those better products will last you much longer because they are more concentrated so you don’t have to use as much.
I stick with more natural product lines. I have incredibly sensitive skin so I normally get samples of all of my products from Sephora before I buy, or if I can’t due to how the product is made, I keep my receipt because they have a good return policy. After all these years, I have found what helps my ever changing skin.
You can find these at Target, I love them. I had the hardest time finding them online though and really any cleansing wipes will do. Just get off what makeup you can (eye makeup first! In case you forgot or didn’t see my fav remover is here in this post).
This gem has been a game changer for my skin. I started noticing changes within a week. Initially yes it is a bit of money but holy cow does it work. I can go on and on about it. I use it at least once a day, I try to both morning and night. Seriously cleans and seriously smooths.
I love this face wash. I have combination skin that is always changing and this wash is like magic. BONUS: I only have to use about a pea sized amount. While it foams up pretty well just with my hands, it really gets nice and foamy with my Clarisonic and smells so good from the oils that they use in it. My face always feels so fresh after using this.
The Original Skin Mask is the first Origins product I bought. From Sephora, which I’m sure you’ve noticed nearly everything is linked to, you can buy these masks in their little .34oz sizes (on the right) for $4 to try. I can normally get 2-3 uses out of a packet that size. The first time I tried that mask I knew I had to get the full size and that is a rarity for me to know that quickly. I could feel it working and my face felt great afterwards. Recently I picked up a small size of the Out of Trouble mask by them and I think I’m going to have to get that one too. It is creamy and luxurious and does a great job. I use my masks once to twice a week, and if I feel like my skin is really giving me issues I remove it with my Clarisonic to really give it a little extra kick.
This is it you guys. My favorite face cream out there. It’s $34 and worth every single penny. I deal with eczema in the winter and use it on my body where that flares up, I use it heavily on my neck and cheeks during winter and a thin layer where I get oily twice a day in the winter, and I use a thin layer on my cheeks at night in the summer since I don’t get quite as dry. No parabens, dyes, fragrances, etc? It works great and I’ve had it for over a year, use it daily, and still have about 1/2 a tub of this? It’s fantastic.
So that’s it everyone. If you deal with kind of bad skin and combination type like I do, this is what I use. Do some research and find what works for you and read the reviews. Don’t forget Sephora gives samples! I’m pretty much sold on Origins from here on out, but Boscia has some great products as well. Also drink a lot of water through the day. Seriously. Your skin feels the effects of lack of water very quickly. Also keep your pillowcases clean and try to not touch your face often. Pretty basic stuff that we have all heard but it makes a difference. What are some of your favorite products?
